7 Steps to Stress Relief

  1. Worship/Meditation  Good news, prayer for stress relief works! Prayer is that unique form of communication with God available to the believer that, when used often and in accordance with God's will, brings us into alignment with God's viewpoint. Being in good alignment means that our whole being is put into its proper perspective and that means life is less stressful and we are better able to deal with the stress we do have.

  2. Proper Eating Habits  Healthy eating plays a crucial role in your ability to deal with times of extra stress. Carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins and minerals are all important for energy, mental concentration, and emotional stability. Stress will weaken your immune system and increase your body's need for certain nutrients. A balanced diet will help you stay focused, alert, energetic, and healthy during times of stress. However, if you live off of fast food or frequently skip meals, you are more likely to perform poorly or get sick during stressful times.

  3. Exercise  All forms of exercise can help reduce the release of stress hormones. This can lead to weight loss and a better functioning body. When you get into good shape, this can help boost your self-confidence which can also lead to a more relaxed frame of mind. Exercise increases your overall health and your sense of well-being, which puts more pep in your step every day.

  4. Music  Listening to music works wonders to alleviate stress. Please note that everyone has different tastes in music. Listen to the music that you find relaxing. Sitting down and forcing yourself to listen to relaxation music that you don't like may create stress, not alleviate it.

  5. Eliminate Procrastination  Procrastination causes stress. Putting those things off we know need to be handled/done creates stress in our life. Then stress causes illness both mental and physical, so managing procrastination is important and needs to be looked at and a plan to put it in order.

  6. Sleep  Not getting enough sleep can lead to stress, as you will feel groggy and unfocused the next day after tossing and turning all night. As insomnia can be a symptom of too much stress in your life, getting enough sleep is very important if you want to relieve it. Most people need at least 7 or 8 hours of sleep each night to function properly the next day; if you get more or less your performance can suffer. Deep sleep is especially important, and if you wake up frequently this can be impaired.

  7. Chiropractic Care  The tension created from sitting at desks, battling deadlines, and relieving headaches can be relieved with the help of chiropractic treatments. The treatments that the chiropractor uses, are focused on the spine and nervous system, muscle tightness, or other health issues.
